The Independent Living (IL) Activities Coordinator, in collaboration with the Director of Community Life, will be responsible for planning and implementing a comprehensive activity program in assigned areas to meet the leisure and recreation needs of our Independent Living residents.  The program is designed to enhance the quality of life of each resident by encouraging participation, and meeting the diverse needs of the residents, clubs and committees.

  • Assists Director of Community Life in coordinating, scheduling, planning and implementing of comprehensive activity programs.
  • Takes the lead in researching, recommending and coordination of external activities, events and trips for IL residents.
  • Prepares event lists and utilizes event requests for interdisciplinary communication, such as catering requests, room set up, Transportation requests and escort requests.
  • Creates and maintains files, as needed for upcoming trips, series and events, along with any applicable material for residents attending (menus, maps, etc.).
  • Occasionally assumes responsibilities as a trip escort.
  • Prepares the Activity Trip Boarding List that is distributed to the following departments;    Security, Transportation Reception, Residential Activity Dept. and for the Resident Escort on a monthly basis throughout each month.
  • Completes all billing forms related to resident outings and in-house billable programs for Accounting.
  • Creates and prepares monthly activities calendar under the guidance of the Director. Copies, distributes and posts information on focus boards and activity bulletin boards to encourage participation.
  • Organizes and maintains information on clubs and committees, including annual reminder, follow up and scheduling. Sends out necessary paperwork to the appropriate contact person for any ongoing programs each year (beginning in October).
  • Utilizes Meeting Room Manager to reserve rooms for activities, private clubs, committees and staff meetings.
  • Answers the phone to assist residents and takes action as necessary.  Returns all voicemail messages within one business day.
  • Utilizes Outlook in a professional manner in order to communicate via email, submit catering requests and request meetings with other staff members.
  • Manages monthly birthday/anniversary cards and volunteers. Monitors the supply levels within the Activities Department, including Fitness Equipment Room, and notifies the Director of Community Life of purchasing needs.
  • Attends all mandatory meetings and in-service trainings.
  • Manages monthly invoices from vendors and submits them to Accounting in a timely manner
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and cooperate with co-workers.
  • Attends monthly interdepartmental meeting to discuss cross program implementation.
  • Available to assist in all areas of Activities when needed.
  • Contributes to a positive, healthy and safe working environment and accepts change in a positive manner.
  • Performs any other relative, relevant duties as assigned per managers’ request.



 

Rate: $18 per hour/based on experiece
