The Activity Assistant – Assisted Living and Special Care Residence will be responsible for coordinating comprehensive activity events to meet the leisure and recreation needs of our residents. The events are designed to enhance the quality of life of each resident by encouraging participation, and meeting the diverse needs of the residents, clubs and committees.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following (other duties may be assigned, as needed):

Planning and Conducting Activities

  • Monitors the supply levels within the Activities department and notifies the Activities Coordinator of purchasing needs.
  • Prepares documents and communication pieces utilizing Microsoft Word and Publisher.
  • Copies, distributes and posts information on community notice boards to encourage participation in scheduled activities and events.
  • Initiates, creates and publicizes special events and field trips on the monthly Activities calendar.
  • Prepares event lists and utilizes event requests for interdisciplinary communication, such as catering requests and room set up.
  • Answers the phone to assist residents and takes action as necessary. Returns all voicemail messages within 24 hours.
  • Utilizes Outlook in a professional manner in order to communicate via email, submit catering requests and request meetings with other staff members.
  • Attends all mandatory meetings and in-service trainings.

 

Administrative Duties

  • Assists with coordination, scheduling, planning and implementing of comprehensive activity programs.
  • Enhances activity programs through research of community resources and coordination of special programs.
  • Assists in transporting and escorting residents to and from activity programs, both on and off campus.
  • Maintains high visibility during activities; assumes a proactive role in resolving resident issues and concerns related to activity programs.

 

  • Maintains a flexible schedule that typically includes working weekends, evenings and holidays.
  • Interacts and communicates in a professional manner with colleagues, vendors and residents. Solves problems and trouble shoots issues that pertain to the implementation of activity programs.
  • Adheres to department health and safety standards in order to ensure resident well-being.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and cooperate with co-workers.
  • Contributes to a positive, healthy and safe working environment and accepts change in a positive manner.
  • Performs any other relative, relevant duties as assigned per managers’ request.

Rate and Shift Information: 

$16.00/hr based on experience
