JOB DESCRIPTION:

This position administers medications and treatments under the direct supervision of an LVN. In addition, this position will provide personal care service to residents and perform related tasks in accordance with the plan of care assigned.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: (other duties may be assigned.)

  • Administer prescribed medication to patients and maintain related medical records under the supervision of the LVN.
  • Verify identity of patient receiving medication and record name of drug, dosage, route, and time of administration on specified forms of records.
  • Presents medication to resident and observes ingestion or other application, or administers medication, using specified procedures.
  • Documents reasons prescribed drugs are not administered. Adhere to medication administration policy.
  • Administer medications via the following routes: oral, topical, eye, ear and nose, transdermal, sublingual and buccal.
  • May receive supply of ordered medications and assemble drugs for administration to resident.  May record and restock medication inventory.
  • Complete annual Medication Administration competency testing Remind and assist patient in taking pre-measured medications
  • Maintain an accurate and complete record of care provided and document observations appropriately
  • Responsible for maintenance of medical records, assuring accuracy, completeness and compliance with regulations, certification standards, legal and ethical standards.

OTHER DUTIES:

  • Assists residents in activities of daily living including, but not limited to: ambulation, bathing, and dressing, eating, minimal meal preparation, serving, clearing, and cleaning of dining areas, toileting, hygiene, and activities.
  • Initiate and participate in planned activity programs throughout the shifts, keeping residents engaged.
  • Light housekeeping of individual units may include bed making, dusting, and other general cleaning as needed between regularly scheduled Housekeeping visits.
  • Promptly reports changes and any unusual occurrences regarding residents to Licensed Nurse or Director of AL/SCR..
  • Participates in admission, transfer, and/or discharge procedures.
  • Assists in transporting residents via wheelchair to and from activities, programs, dining rooms, and/or pick- up points for transportation.
  • Monitors nutritional and fluid intake as indicated Assists residents with ordering meals.
  • Clean and set up AL dining room for all meals. Assists LVN in emergency situations.
  • Pick up La Tienda resident order items as needed.
  • Assists LVN/Director in maintaining appropriate supply levels for AL residents. Accurately documents required data in a timely manner, using appropriate forms. Maintains resident confidentiality.
  • Follow established performance standards and performs duties according to facility policies and procedures. Identifies safety hazards and emergency situations and initiates appropriate action immediately.
  • Completes in-service program participation requirements, attends all department mandatory and scheduled meetings, and maintains current certification.
  • Works as a member of the team.as a member of a team.
  • Gets along with co-workers.
  • Contributes to a positive, healthy, and safe work environment. Maintains resident safety.
  • Accepts change in a positive manner.

Rate and Shift Information: 

Wage: $16.00- $21.00 per hour based on experience;

Minimum Requirements:

  • Accounting courses and/or two years of related office/accounting experience.
  • Knowledge of purchasing medical supplies is preferred but not required.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent customer service.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
