Job Summary:
 

Perform basic accounting functions and maintain accurate records of the Community's financial transactions while meeting, or exceeding Life Care Services (LCS) principles and standards of service. Assist with accounts payable, cash control, accounts receivable, and other items related to the accounting activities of the Community.


Primary Job Duties:

Perform assigned basic accounting functions according to LCS policy and procedures while meeting LCS principles and standards of service.

  • Assist in entering on-line process of accounts payable and processing invoices accurately; follow accounts payable procedures; assist in maintaining accounts payable files.

  • Pick up accounts receivable checks; responsible for processing check (cash) deposits; balance daily receipts and bank logs with fund received; assist in posting cash; assist in cash control and check deposit procedures complying with LCS policy and procedures.

  • Assist with processing the Community's Accounts Receivables following LCS policy and procedures; record transactions accurately on accounts receivable system; prepare census and related process from admission/move-in through discharge/move-out; respond to residents’ or their family’s billing questions appropriately; assist in preparation of Medicare billing and  third party billing process.

  • Assist in maintaining contracts and resident files according to LCS and Community procedures.

  • Assist in resolving account discrepancies by verifying transactions and process in compliance with LCS policy and procedures.

  • Cross train in performing accounting jobs; assist with compiling and printing accounting reports and spreadsheets as required; attend meetings as necessary in helping accounting process.

  • Perform other related duties as directed by supervisor; conduct and follow through all duties assigned in an efficient, timely and professional manner.

  • Practice positive resident relations by demonstrating LCS principles and standards of service to residents, families, guests, and the general public.

     
     
    Other Duties:
  • Practice safety and loss prevention procedures; adhere to universal precautions and all infection control guidelines.

  • Attend in-services as required.
  • Meet, or exceed LCS's standards of appearance; comply with LCS sanitation, hygiene and health standards for community personnel.

  • Maintain and protect the confidentiality of resident information at all times.


Qualifications:

 Required
  • AA Degree
  • Two years experience in accounting or two years equivalent education

  • Solid knowledge of basic accounting concepts, principles, and practices.

  • Demonstrated skill with adding machine, typewriter, other office equipment, and neatly legible handwriting

  • Computer skills with thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office and LCS applications or the ability to learn these software applications based on thorough knowledge of other spreadsheets and word processing software.

  • Demonstrated skill with business judgment, communication, and problem solving.

  • Ability to understand and assist in accounting daily process which meet, or exceed, LCS principles and standards of service

  • Ability to handle high volume of transactions and checks in maintaining accuracy

  • Ability to perform accounting tasks in an organized, detail-oriented, and timely manner

  • Willingness to interact with residents
