Provide EMT and security services ensuring a safe and secure environment for residents, guests, and employees while meeting or exceeding expectations. Responsible for security of community assets by following safety and loss prevention policies and procedures.


  • Assess each call situation to determine best course of action.

  • Develop and utilize triage skills to perform rapid treatment prior to arrival of Advanced Life Support.

  • Responsible for providing security services as designated and for securing community assets by performing scheduled Locking and Unlocking duties.

  • Ensure compliance with security, safety and loss prevention policies and procedures; adhere to universal precautions and all infection control guidelines.

  • Practice positive resident and guest relations; ensure that appropriate resident/guest feedback is directed to supervisor.

  • Responsible for patrolling the community to prevent and discover activity in violation of criminal, fire or safety codes, and report dangerous conditions. (Foot patrol and vehicle patrol.)

  • Respond to emergency or security calls and complaints, taking necessary action; handle on-scene emergencies until relieved by a higher authority; responsible for taking proper action at that scene of incident, for notifying the police/Fire department and preparing necessary reports.

  • Respond to resident’s disturbance and emergency calls; attempt to adjudicate incidents using tact and diplomacy and contact the proper authorities for resolution.

  • Patrol the concierge/reception area, monitor building and resident safety systems, responding to any emergences promptly and properly.

  • Practice and enforce all safety rules and procedures; practice and execute all fire emergency procedures.

  • Carry all required equipment and forms as prescribed.

  • Report, in writing, the loss or damage of any assigned equipment.

  • Responsible for proper documentation for all life safety systems and security requirements.

  • Develops compliance checklists and trains other EMT’s, also trains emergency procedures.

  • Transport residents, employees & packages on campus as arranged after other departments have closed.

  • Perform light maintenance duties in the absence of maintenance personnel.

  • Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by supervisor

  • Attend in-service training and educational sessions, as assigned.

  • Maintain and protect the confidentiality of resident information at all times.


  1. Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, effectively communicates with supervisor, employees, and residents, and performs simple arithmetic and complete required forms.

  2. Ability to assess emergencies situations, make clear judgment calls based on policy, take prompt action when needed. FEMA/CERT incident command level of competency.

  3. Ability to effectively manage conflict.

  4. Willingness to work compassionately with the elderly.

  5. Ability to work in all weather conditions.

  6. Ability to perform physical walking of facility and grounds, on and off trails, night and day.

  7. Ability to maintain CA Driver’s License and adheres to company driver testing and policies.

  8. Ability to maintain Guard Card, EMT Certification, CPR Healthcare Providers, CERT.

  9. Ability to maintain a clear background record within the DSS regulations.
