The senior accountant ensures Community Finance’s quality control best practices are in place and being followed.  Accountant must understand continuous accounting practices and be capable of managing and prioritizing individual workload to ensure delivery of appropriate information to meet clients’ needs by set deadlines.

What You Need To Know

  • Executes on month end close functions in compliance with GAAP to meet the obligations of the management agreement

    • Prepares and posts journal entries

    • Prepares balance sheet reconciliations

    • Analyzes and reviews financial statements

    • Communicates with manager on any material findings

  • Analyzes and posts timely & accurate accruals & prepaid entries

  • Strong knowledge of payroll & benefits to ensure timely and accurate recording of all entries related to personnel

  • Assists manager in monitoring of expenses compared to budget throughout the month

  • Provides training and daily support for community staff (Executive Director, Business Office Personnel, and other team members) related to accounting processes and procedures

  • Prepares schedules and work papers for external audit firms engaged in community audits

  • Assists with the onboarding of new clients including implementation of accounting processes and systems

  • Collaborates with other team members to support business decisions

  • Contributes as an active member to the Community Finance team

    • Performs as a department team member by assisting co-workers with overloads as time permits, training new co-workers, and contributing to team projects

  • Completes special projects, as requested or assigned

What We Are Looking For

  • Degree in accounting preferred
  • Minimum two years of accounting experience
  • May consider equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Familiarity with senior living industry preferred

  • Flexible and able to handle changing priorities and interruptions

  • Ability to interact with a wide range of people including field personnel, auditors, and all levels of LCS personnel

  • Must possess analytical and problem-solving skills necessary to solve accounting problems of medium difficulty

  • Working knowledge of accounting systems (Accounts Payable, Payroll, Billing, General Ledger)

  • Proficient with Microsoft products (Excel, Word, etc.)

  • Solid understanding of customer service principles, and the ability to apply them.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Use of proper grammar, content, and identified standards/format.

  • Strong time management and organizational skills with willingness to work additional hours as needed to meet organizational deadlines.
