Responsible for financial oversight of communities as assigned, with emphasis on technical accounting guidance, policies and procedures, best practices and internal controls. Analyst will assist in evaluating new accounting standards and implementing across communities, as well as researching and documenting solutions to complex accounting issues. Additionally, analyst will partner with community accounting staff and operations leadership to ensure timely and accurate audits and monthly BlackLine reconciliations. Analyst must be capable of managing and prioritizing individual workload to ensure delivery of appropriate information regarding clients’ needs, issues, recommendations and opportunities by relevant date.

What You Need To Know

  • Key resource in supporting Community Finance and Communities in evaluating new accounting standards and non-routine transactions by researching, documenting and communicating accounting implications
  • Provides external audit support for Investment and Managed communities
    • Assists with the audit planning, preparation, review and response to auditor’s questions and comments
    • Assists with establishing standards and procedures for monitoring community audit deadlines and results
    • Assists with creating financial reporting standards and tools for quarterly and year-end reporting
  • Prepares or reviews audit reports for Investment communities and reviews audit reports for Managed communities
  • Works closely with Rental Finance and Life Plan Accounting & Financial Reporting teams on audit requests and issues.
  • Reviews community BlackLine reconciliations and provides support and feedback to communities
  • Supports operations to aid in business decisions related to audit, quality control, and best practices of assigned communities
  • Performs internal control desk and site audits and develops action plan for communities
  • Contributes as an active member to the Community Finance team
    • Performs as a department team member by assisting co-workers with overloads as time permits, training new co-workers, and contributing to team projects
    • Assists with development of policy and procedure and best practice documentation
    • Trains LCS and community employees on accounting standards, policies and procedures and other tools
    • Updates and/or creates policies, procedures and reporting tools
    • Presents at conferences and trainings 
  • Completes special projects, as requested or assigned

What We Are Looking For

  • Four year degree in accounting and minimum of 1 – 3 years of related experience
  • CPA with active license is required

  • Flexible and able to handle changing priorities and interruptions
  • Ability to interact with a wide range of people including field personnel, auditors, and all levels of LCS personnel
  • Must possess analytical and problem-solving skills necessary to research and solve complex accounting problems
  • Working knowledge of accounting systems (Accounts Payable, Payroll, Billing, General Ledger)
  • Proficient with Microsoft products (Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Solid understanding of customer service principles, and the ability to apply them.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Use of proper grammar, content, and identified standards/format.
  • Ability to handle multiple responsibilities, prioritize work schedules, and complete tasks by desired due dates.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with willingness to work additional hours as needed to meet organizational deadlines.
