Work in accordance with established policies and procedures and/or specific instructions from the Life Safety and Security Manager.  The Security Officer is responsible for greeting, directing and authorizing incoming traffic.  Responsibilities include responding to emergency communication systems, receiving and directing residents, guests, vendors and employees and maintaining front gate security records.

 

The Security Officer reports directly to the Life Safety and Security Manager under the direction of the Facility Services Director.  Ultimate direction is provided by the Administrator or Executive Director.

  

During emergencies or natural disasters, employee may be required to report for duty as assigned by the Life Safety and Security Manager for the duration of the disaster.

 

 Maintains acceptable standards of personal hygiene and complies with department dress code.

 

Attends in-service training and education sessions as assigned.

 

Works in conjunction with the Maintenance, Housekeeping, and Transportation departments when availability of staffing is limited and performs tasks as required to satisfy the residents’ needs and concerns.

 

 

Greet all guests, visitors and employees in a courteous professional manner. Responsible for ensuring authorization to admit all incoming traffic according to established Policy and Procedures.

 

Performs scheduled rounds both inside and outside of the buildings to maintain a secure environment. Checks and secures all exterior doors and windows, locking and unlocking as outlined in Concierges checklist. 

 

Monitors and maintains scheduled security checks, walking inspections and rado requests. 

 

Responds to the emergency response system following standard operating procedure. Door unlock log, e-call log, doctor runs.    Responsible for maintaining timely, accurate reports and logs, including, but not limited to, incident reports, safety inspections, repair and service requests, emergency call logs, doctor run sheets and delivering pass-on reports to relief officers.

 

Responsible for immediate notification of all emergencies to appropriate personnel, including, but not limited to, the Executive Director and/or Administrator, Department Heads, Supervisor and Health Center Charge Nurse.   Assist residents with packages, boxes, and other items that might be cumbersome or too heavy for a resident. Use a handcart when necessary. If unreasonably heavy or cumbersome, notify Maintenance. Deliver or remove written material: newsletters, books, correspondence, etc., to or from the community. Maintains gate house in a clean, neat manner.

 

Clean security vehicles on a regular basis and as assigned by the Life Safety and Security Manager. Check security carts for proper battery connections, battery water levels, proper tire pressure on a regular basis and as assigned by the Life Safety and Security Manager.

 

Direct vehicular traffic during Sandhill Cove functions and transport visitors and residents to and from function area and as directed by the Life Safety and Security Manager. High school diploma is preferred. Must have the ability to read, write and speak English. Position requires a valid Florida Driver License. Position requires a Class "D" Security License.  Must have the ability to obtain a CPR/AED certification.


Prefer security background. Must be proficient using  computer applications.
