The Director of Assisted Living and the Stoneridge Assistance in Living Program is responsible for the overall supervision of nursing care in The Cottage and the SAIL Program

Essential Job Duties:


  1. Coordinating and managing all Assisted Living Aides (Resident Assistants) rendered to clients by direct service staff under his/ her supervision.

  2. Supervising assigned nursing personnel and assisted living aide in the delivery of nursing services and assistance with the provision of activities of daily living.

  3. Ensure the evaluation of the clinical competence of assigned nursing personnel and assisted living aides.

  4. Participating in or developing all agency objectives, standards of care, policies and procedures concerning nursing services and the provision of assistance with activities of daily living. 

  5. Participates in direct service staff recruitment, selection, orientation , in-service education and evaluation.

  6. Participating in program planning, budgeting and evaluating activities related to the clinical services provided by the agency.  Participates in promoting the growth of the SAIL program.  Evaluates needs for staffing , equipment and other resources and communicates those needs to the Administrator.

  7. Providing weekly reports to the Administrator regarding the status of the services, issues and the provision of the core services.

  8. Provide monthly reports to the Administrator regarding statistical data including the number of residents’ service and services provided, summaries of which shall e provided to the governing authority in accordance with the schedule established by the governing authority.

  9. Provide an annual summary of the program to be discussed with the Administrator and Governing Authority.

  10. Makes routine rounds to assure proper care is being performed and the environment is safe and clean.

  11. Assures accuracy and completeness of resident service records.

  12. Ensures proper staffing needs are met, including on call requirements.

  13. Supervises nursing personnel on all shifts.  Participates in staffing, scheduling, counseling, orientation, and evaluation of nursing staff.

  14. Participates in family/resident communication.  Ensures that physicians, residents and families are routinely updated on the status of the resident.

  15. Assures effective communication with other shifts and departments as it relates to 

            resident care.  Conducts regular staff meetings.  Actively problem solves

            collaboratively with staff, residents and families in order to meet the needs of the


17.       Plans, conducts and evaluates training programs for staff.  Ensures compliance

            with  local, state and federal regulations.

18.       Provides specific orientation to Resident Assistants, including completion of a clinical skills check-list.     

  1. Assist residents in making arrangements to meet their personal needs

  2. Establish collaborative relations with provider agencies, support services and community resources.

  3. SALSA will be responsible for the following which shall be documented in the client’s service record.

  1. Admission.

  2. Development of the client service program and instructions for assisted living aide services.

  3. Assessments, completed as often as necessary based on the client’s condition but not less frequently than every one hundred and twenty days, and prompt action when a change in the client’s condition would require a  

    change in the clients’ service program.

  4. Coordination of services with the client, family and other appropriate individuals involved in the client service program.

  5. Participation in orientation, teaching, and supervision of assisted living aides

  6. Arrangements for training or supervision of the assisted living aide by other professionals, when appropriate.

  7. Referral to appropriate professionals or agencies, whenever the client’s condition necessitates, including the provision of current clinical information ensuring that if the client’s condition is no longer chronic and stable, services of a licensed home health care agency are engaged or other appropriate arrangements are made.

  8. Planning for clients who shall no longer receive or require the services of the assisted living services agency.

  9. Implementation or delegation of responsibility for the availability of nursing services on a twenty-four (24) hour basis.

  10. Nursing services which shall include but not necessarily be limited to:

    • Client teaching

    • Wellness counseling

    • Health promotion

    • Disease prevention

    • Medication administration and delegation of supervision of self-administered medications as specified in subdivision of this subsection

    • Provision of care and services to clients whose condition are chronic and stable


      Other Duties:


      1.         Assures timeliness of physician visits.


      2.         Notifies physician and family of changes in resident’s condition.


      3.         Encourages rehabilitative techniques in order to restore residents’ independence.


      4.         Assures proper functioning of medical equipment and adequate medical supplies.


      6.         Assists in infection control, safety and pharmacy rounds and audits.


      7.         In-service training and education sessions, as assigned.


      8.         Performs specific work duties and responsibilities assigned by supervisor.




      RN currently licensed in the State.  Current CPR certification.  The Director shall have two (2) years of full time or full time equivalent clinical experience in nursing, at least one (1) year of which shall be in a home health care agency or community health program that included care of the sick at home.  Supervisory experience required.
